Image
Hi, everyone and welcome to another Ummm, What's That? Today, we have a candy that had me going "Ummm, what's that?" This is durian candy. I found it at the same Asian market that I found red bean paste, which you can see my post about  here . Also, since Easter is coming up, I figured candy would fit in well.  That's also why I put a jellybean backround.πŸ˜‹ Here's some information about this treat!🍈 What is it?    Durian is a Southeast-Asian fruit that is green or brown and spiky on the outside and different shades of yellow on the inside. It's called the "king of fruits" in the countries it's eaten in which are Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.  One of the most famous things about the durian, though, is its smell. According to the Smithsonian, it smells like turpentine, onions, and dirty socks. I would say they are right on!😱😱😱 What does it taste like?     Okay, so there are a couple different steps to t

Tony Time! Throw Back Thursday, But On A Monday

Hi, everyone! Welcome back to Tony Time! As you may have noticed, this is not the same adorable tabby cat you have came to love. This is Trixie, my mom's old cat who looks exactly like Tony. Here is a side-by-side comparison. Tony Trixie     They're practically identical! That's insane! I found this picture at my grandma's house and it took me a minute to tell the difference. My mom had a lot of cats, and she always said that her special boy looks like Trixie! Sadly, Rudy doesn't look like anyone besides Rudy. If you know any cat doppelgangers, or one that looks like Tony, Rudy, or Odesza, please share in the comment section below.

Hi, everyone! Welcome to our first Ummm, What's That?  !  Ummm, What's That is a column where I try interesting foods and tell you what it is, what it tastes like, and how to use it! Today we have some red bean paste. I found this at an Asian market and have loved using it! I also want to give a shout out to Liesel because she was one of the first to try this recipe and she likes this blog! What is it? Red bean paste is a paste made from adzuki beans. The paste is used in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cuisine.  Here's  a link to find out more. My favorite way to eat them that I haven't made is in baozi, a steamed bun filled with the paste and mochi, a glutinous rice ball filled with red bean paste.  πŸ˜‹ What does it taste like? Red bean paste tastes surprisingly sweet. I don't even put sugar in the desserts I use it in!πŸͺπŸ˜‹ How do you use it? I really like bean paste on toast with cream cheese. It makes a delicious breakfast!

5 Tips To Great Sushi!

Spicy Tuna RollπŸ£πŸ˜‹   Hi, everyone! Welcome back to my blog! I really love sushi, it's in my top ten favorite foods. I got it every time I saw it, but I had never tried to make it at home, because I thought it would be super hard. Christmas came around and I got a sushi making set and I was like πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†! I made it for the first time on New Year's Eve and it was way easier than I thought! Here are some good tips on how to enjoy and make sushi, plus a fun recipe to try at the end.   Number One: Follow the Recipe!    Following the recipe, especially for the rice, is a very important part of making delicious and easily edible sushi. Not cooking the rice correctly will make it too soft or too hard, not putting enough vinegar mixture will make it not sticky enough. In my opinion, it's just as important to follow a sushi rice recipe as it is to follow a baking recipe.   Number Two: Eat it Correctly!    Eating sushi the right way is almost as important as making
